Auto renewed benefits

Some Payflip benefits provide peace of mind and continuous protection to your employees and their families.

To make sure there's never a gap in coverage, we've built an automatic renewal system that takes the hassle out of yearly renewals.

Which benefits auto-renew? ✅

The following benefits automatically renew every year on 01/01/202X, as long as you had an active choice the year before:

  • Ambulatory insurance for you and your family members

  • Dental insurance for you and your family members

  • Dental and ambulatory cost insurance for you and your family members

  • Hospitalisation insurance for your family members

  • Health insurance for your family members

  • Alan for Family Members

  • Internet at home

⚠️ Note: Any benefit not on this list does not auto-renew. They'll need to make a new active choice each year to keep it.

How does the renewal work? 🔄

To guarantee continuous coverage, we automatically renew an employee's Payflip choice on the renewal date — this is how the benefit is financed through the cafeteria plan.

⚠️ This only concerns the choice made in Payflip. The insurance period with the insurer itself (e.g. DKV, Alan) runs on the contract between the employer and the insurer, independently of Payflip.

What is the renewal date? 📆

The renewal date is the day right after the end date of the previous choice.

Example:

  • Initial choice made on: March 1, 2026

  • Coverage period: March 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026

  • Automatic renewal starts on: January 1, 2027

  • New coverage period: January 1, 2027 – December 31, 2027

No action is needed from the employee. They'll receive a notification email two months before their renewal date, giving them time to review their coverage. ⏰

If an employee doesn't want to renew, they need to inform their employer no later than one month before the renewal date, as specified in the Terms & Conditions.

For employees: making changes 🔁

  • Adding a family member (e.g. a newborn): a new choice needs to be made for the current coverage period.

  • Removing a family member: contact your HR admin, who will verify this with the insurer and will contact Payflip support to adjust the choice.

  • Opting out: let your employer know at least one month before your renewal date (per the T&Cs).

For admins: what you need to do 🧑🏽‍💻

  • Update insurance prices in Payflip at the start of each new coverage period.

  • If an employee doesn't want to renew, you need to reject the renewed choice (the one starting on the renewal date).

    • Note: once rejected, the benefit won't auto-renew in later years either — the employee would need to make a new active choice to get it back.

What if the renewal happens before you update the prices? 💰

No worries — the system first processes renewals with the old prices. Payflip automatically applies retroactive updates (once after the first two weeks of the new period, and again a month later, to guarantee the correct pricing).
