In this article, learn how to activate your mobility budget mid-year, choose the right start date, and enter the correct amounts.

Updated over 2 months ago

Started in the middle of the year and unsure when or how to activate your mobility budget? Don’t worry! In this article, we’ll walk you through everything step by step — from choosing the right start date to entering your monthly rent or loan repayment.

📅 Important rule: Adjust your start date

Your mobility budget is an annual budget calculated on a pro-rata basis.
Starting in September? Then you’ll receive the budget for the remaining months of the calendar year (September to December). Make sure to update your start date accordingly.

💰 Entering your amount: follow these rules

You can never enter more than:

  • Your available mobility budget ❌

  • Your actual rent or repayment amount ❌

💡 Tip!

For rent or loan repayments:
If you choose October 1 as your start date and want to use your entire available mobility budget, you’ll have 3 months to spend it.

Example: €2,000 available budget ÷ 3 months = €667 per month.

⚠️ The amount you enter cannot exceed your actual monthly rent or repayment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I adjust my amount later?

Yes, but only after approval from your HR Admin.
This can be useful in situations such as:

  • Your lease ends or you move,

  • Your loan is fully repaid,

  • You receive additional mobility budget later on.

What if my rent is lower than my mobility budget?

You can only enter up to your actual monthly rent or repayment amount, not your full mobility budget.

The remaining balance can still be used for other mobility budget benefits, such as train tickets, bike subscriptions, shared cars, or other sustainable transport options.

🔎 In summary

  • 📆 Choose the right start date → your budget is calculated pro rata.

  • 💰 Enter an amount that does not exceed your rent/repayment and your remaining budget.

  • 🏠 In case of changes (moving, end of loan, extra budget), your amount can be adjusted.
