Why can't I use Payflip yet on January 1st? 🗓️

New year, new plan — but bear with us! You know that your flexible pay plan restarts every year in January. But you may notice that you can't get started in Payflip right away on January 1st. Don't worry — this is completely normal and there's a good reason for it. 👇

What is the "relaunch"? 🚀

Every year in January, your employer goes through the so-called relaunch of your Payflip plan. This is the moment when your plan for the new year is officially restarted.

Think of it as an annual reset: the benefits, budgets and settings are updated for the new year — so that everything is correct when you make your choices.

What needs to happen before your plan reopens? 🔄

Before you can submit new choices in Payflip, your employer (or HR admin) needs to complete a number of steps:

  1. 🧑‍💼 Update employee data
Your salary — including any index adjustments for the new year — must be entered in Payflip. This is crucial, because your budget is directly based on your salary. No correct salary = no correct budget.

  2. ⚙️ Check settings
The HR admin verifies the deadlines for choices and payments for the new year.

  3. 🟢 Activate budgets — the very last step!
Only once your employer effectively activates the budgets will the plan open for you.

When will I be able to get started? 📬

Once your employer has completed the relaunch, you will receive an email from Payflip notifying you that your plan is available again. That's the green light for you to:

  • ✅ View your budgets

  • 🛒 Choose your benefits

  • ✍️ Optionally sign the annex to your employment contract (if you haven't done so yet in the past)
