What does it mean? 🤔
With Payflip, you can have your private health insurance expenses reimbursed by your employer using your available Payflip budget. This way, you can invest in your own health and that of your family members.
💡 Only private insurances related to healthcare are eligible, such as hospitalisation, outpatient care, or dental insurance. Other types of insurance (e.g. travel, cancellation, or family insurance) are not eligible.
How does it work? 🔁
Do you have any health insurances for yourself or your family? Follow the steps below to receive a reimbursement.
Step-by-step guide to getting your private health insurance reimbursed:
Select ‘Private Health Insurance Reimbursement’ under “Health & Well-being” in your Payflip tool.
Upload your proof: Upload your invoice showing your paid contributions for this year.
Enter the amount you paid for your private health insurance this year.
Add your choice to your shopping cart and confirm.
Your employer approves the request.
You’ll receive the amount with your next payslip.
⚠️ A reimbursement can only be requested if you do not have the same type of insurance through your employer.
e.g. you can request reimbursement for dental insurance if you only have hospitalisation insurance via your employer.
⚠️ In this context, a family member is considered your married partner, legally cohabiting partner, or your children.
Financials 💰
The cost of the benefit depends on the premium you pay.
No social security (RSZ) contributions are due on the reimbursement, making it more advantageous than a cash payout.
Example
Suppose you paid €500 for your dental insurance.
If you choose a cash payout? After all deductions, you’ll have about €190 net left.
If you opt for reimbursement via private health insurance? After all deductions (only withholding tax), you’ll have about €300 net left.
💸 In this example, the financial advantage of a private health insurance reimbursement is around €100 net.
