When the usage period is over, you take over the device from your employer. For this, a Benefit in Kind is charged on your payslip amounting to the residual value.
The residual value is determined as 20% of the initial purchase value of the device. The amount of the residual value will be charged as a Benefit in Kind on the payslip.
For the Benefit in Kind, you only pay employee social security contributions (13.07%) and withholding tax (20-40%). Thus, you do not pay the residual value net again.
🔢 Example Calculation
The purchase price of the device is 1,000 EUR.
The residual value is equal to 20% of the device and is 200 EUR.
On this, we calculate employee social security = 26.14 EUR and withholding tax ± 61 EUR.
Net, you therefore pay approximately 26.14 EUR + 61 EUR = 87.14 EUR
