What is a flexible rewards plan?

Updated this week

Ever wished you could customize your salary package just like picking items from a menu? That's exactly what flexible rewards lets you do!

With Payflip, you get more out of your salary package! That's it. 🎯

Thanks to the Payflip tool, parts of your classic salary package (thirteenth month, bonus, referral bonus, etc.) are now transformed into budgets.

These budgets reflect the employer cost of the underlying salary element. On top of the gross amount of, for example, a thirteenth month, your budget also includes the employer’s mandatory social security contributions (28%) that your employer is required to pay.

So you actually get more!

You can spend these budgets on a list of benefits that your employer has carefully put together for you (a so-called 'cafeteria plan'). This allows you to deviate from the traditional, heavily taxed cash payout of your salary package! πŸ’œ

How Does It Work? 🎯

Through your employer's flexible rewards plan, you can transform parts of your 'traditional salary' (typically your bonus and/or end-of-year premium) into benefits that bring you more satisfaction. Think of it as your personal salary shopping experience!

Your Budget πŸ’°

You'll receive a budget to spend in your flexible rewards plan. This budget reflects the total employer cost, which means you get more value than a regular cash payment would give you.

Key Benefits ⭐

1. Freedom of Choice

  • You're in the driver's seat! Create a salary package that matches YOUR needs

  • Choose from a variety of benefits your employer has made available

  • Even the decision to participate is entirely up to you

2. Financial Advantage πŸ†

  • By converting your gross salary into benefits, you'll pay less in social security contributions and taxes

  • Example: Converting a €1,000 year-end premium into an (electric) bike could save you more than €700 compared to receiving it in cash!

Available Benefits 🎁

Standard options typically include:

  • IT equipment (PC, smartphone, tablet, and accessories) πŸ’»

  • Bike lease πŸš΄β€β™€οΈ

  • Individual pension savings reimbursement πŸ’°

  • Health insurance for family members πŸ₯

  • Extra vacation days πŸ–οΈ

Important Considerations 🚨

Social Security Rights

  • Most choices in the flexible rewards plan reduce social security contributions

  • Impact on pension and unemployment rights is usually minimal if your monthly gross salary stays above €2,700

Ownership of Benefits

  • Benefits aren't immediately your property

  • Example: A €500 smartphone remains company property for 2 years

  • After the period ends, you can purchase it for a percentage of the original value (minimum 20%)

Ready to Get Started? 🌟

Activate your budget by signing the employment contract appendix once, and you're all set for future end-of-year premiums and bonuses!

Remember: Cash remains the default option for any unspent budget, so there's absolutely no risk in activating your flexible rewards plan!
